Strain development山崎博幸（現、群馬医療福祉大学）が群馬大学在籍時に、新潟大学（崎村研究室）において2009年に開発した。C57BL/6Nで戻し交配を行った（20世代程度）。
Strain descriptionSpikar（Zmynd8）は2001年に酵母two-hybrid法によりdrebrin結合タンパク質として単離された。神経細胞では、核および細胞質（特に樹状突起スパイン）に存在する。Bromoドメインを有しており、核では転写調節に働いている。樹状突起スパインではdrebrinと相互作用していると考えられる。このマウスは、Creマウスと交配することによって、exon 4を欠失した系統である。
