Strain development群馬大学、柳川右千夫（2006年）戻し交配世代数　不明CCE（129/SvEv）ES細胞を用いてVGAT-floxneoマウスを作出。VGAT-floxneoマウスとCAG-Creマウスとの交配により、loxPで挟まれた配列を除去し、VGATノックアウトマウスを作出した。その後、C57BL/6Jマウス（日本クレア）と戻し交配を行った。周産期致死。口蓋裂、臍帯ヘルニア。
Strain descriptionVGATは抑制性神経伝達物質のGABAとグリシンを細胞質からシナプス小胞へ取り込むことからvesicular inhibitory amino acid transporter (VIAAT)とも呼ばれる。VGATノックアウトマウスではGABA性とグリシン性の神経伝達が遮断される。ホモマウスでは、周産期致死であり、口蓋裂、臍帯ヘルニアの表現型を示す。
