Strain description分節時計遺伝子Hes7は、胚発生期の未分節中胚葉において2～3時間周期で振動発現し、周期的な体節(脊椎・肋骨などの元となる組織)形成を制御する因子として知られる。抑制性転写因子をコードし、自身のプロモーター活性を抑えるネガティブフィードバック機構により振動発現を駆動する。Hes7の欠失は、体節の癒合を引き起こし、ホモ欠失胚の多くは生後致死となる。本系統はHes7の発現動態を可視化するため、Hes7プロモーター下でHes7と黄色蛍光タンパク質Achillesの融合タンパク質を発現するトランスジェニックマウスであり、未分節中胚葉において個々の細胞におけるHes7の発現動態を定量可能にする。Achillesは黄色蛍光タンパク質Venusに変異を導入し、成熟効率を高めたものである。
