Strain development2010年　金子涼輔、柳川右千夫ら（群馬大学）が開発。C57BL/6J Jcl受精卵へVGAT-stop-tdTomato BACをインジェクションし、VGAT-stop-tdTomatoマウスが得られた。トランスジーン挿入位置を決定した（４番染色体　偽遺伝子Gm12442付近に挿入）。C57BL/6J Jcl（日本クレア）受精卵へVGAT-stop-tdTomato BACをインジェクションし、VGAT-stop-tdTomatoマウスが得られた。ホモ接合体にて維持可能。致死性なし。ホモのオスメス共に交配可能。
Strain description抑制性ニューロン特異的なCre活性レポーターマウスである。Cre活性により、脳神経系や網膜の抑制性ニューロンが赤色蛍光でラベルされる。例えば、Nestin-CreERマウスとの交配により得られる二重Tgマウスを用いることで、タモキシフェン投与時以降に生まれた抑制性ニューロンを赤色蛍光ラベルできる。また、Galntl4-CreERマウスとの交配により得られる二重Tgマウスを用いることで、抑制性ニューロンのごく一部をまばらに赤色蛍光ラベルできる。
