Strain development大阪大学　蛋白質研究所、分子発生学研究室において確立。f/+マウスは正常に発育し生殖能に問題はない。
Strain descriptionMef2dはMADS boxとMEF2 domainを持つ転写因子。Mef2d遺伝子のMADS boxとMEF2 domain をコードする領域を含むExon2-4がflox配列で挟まれておりCreリコンビナーゼにより除去可能である。B6-Tg(CAG-FLPe)37と掛け合わせ、FRT配列に挟まれたPGK-Neo遺伝子を除去済みである。その後、B6C3H系統のマウスと１回掛け合わせを行い、その後は、兄妹交配により継代している。Rd1遺伝子は除外してある。
