Strain development | Spontaneous mutant arose in BALB/c inbred mice, found by Mr. Michio Ohmura, Ohmura Institute for Laboratory Animals in 1984. The Wriggle mice were maintained by Dr. Nobutaka Ohsawa, Kitasato University School of Medicine, and then backcrossed to C57BL/6J by Dr. Sen-ichi Oda, Nagoya University in 2005. |
Strain description | Wriggle Mouse Sagami (wri), a point mutation was occurred in a Atp2b2 gene that is an isoform of Calmodulin-dependent plasma membrane Ca<2+>-ATPase. Homozygous mutant mice show severe dystonic movements of the trunk and extremities. |
