Strain development | Developed by Keisuke Oboki, RIKEN Research Center for Allergy anf Immunology. This strain was generated by backcrossing to C57BL/6 from C;B6-a/a-b/b-W<sh>/W<sh> strain (RBRC00762). |
Strain description | The Kit<W-sh> mutation arose spontaneously in the (C3H/HeN x 101/H)F1 at the MRC (Lyon et al., 1982). Homozygous mice are white coat with black eyes. Heterozygotes are black with a white sash. This strain is useful for study of melanogenesis and neural crest migration. |
Colony maintenance | Heteryozygote x Homozygote. Homozygous mutant mice are viable and fertile. |
