Strain description | Fas is a cell surface receptor belonging to the tumor necrosis factor receptor superfamily which transduces apoptotic signals in many cell types. Fas deficient mutant mice show lymphoma and autoimmune disorders. In a few month after birth, the mice develop lymphadenoma and splenomegaly by an accumulation of abnormal polyclonal T cells with the CD4-CD8- double negative. |
Colony maintenance | Backcross to C57BL/6 (Heterozygote x C57BL/6NCrlCrlj)Homozygous mutant mice show lymphoma and autoimmune disorders. 50% dead at about 5 months of age. |
