Appearance
Strain developmentDeveloped by Dr. Keiji Tanimoto, University of Tsukuba in 2003. C57BL/6 background.
Strain descriptionB6.Cg-Ren1<tm1Afu>. Renin plays an essential role in the control of blood pressure through its specific leavage of angiotensinogen to generate angiotensin I. Homozygous mutant mice exhibit lowered blood pressure, increased urine and drinking volume, and altered renal morphology.
Colony maintenanceSibling Mating (Heterozygote x Heterozygote, Wild-type) Homozygous mutant mice lowered blood pressure and die within a week after birth.
