BRC No.RBRC00997
TypeTransgene CongenicCartagena
SpeciesMus musculus
Strain nameC57BL/6-TgN(muAqp0)2Tohm
Former Common nameTg2, C57BL/6-TgN(muAqp0)2Tohm
H-2 Haplotype
ES Cell line
Background strainC57BL/6NCrSlc
Appearanceblack
Strain developmentDeveloped by Tadashi Okamura, Tohoku University Graduate School of Medicine in 2000.
Strain descriptionThese transgenic mice expressing Mip in the crystalline lens. These mice exhibit congenital cataracts. However, the cataracts are difficult to detect based on appearance alone. This strain may be useful for studying the onset of cataracts.
Colony maintenance
References
Bilateral congenital cataracts result from a gain-of-function mutation in the gene for aquaporin-0 in mice.
