Strain nameB6;129P2-Maf<tm1Mym>/2Rbrc
Former Common name44A, c-Maf/2 KO
H-2 Haplotype
ES Cell lineE14 [129P2/OlaHsd]
Background strainC57BL/6J
Appearance
Strain developmentDeveloped by Drs. Shimako Kawauchi and Satoru Takahashi at University of Tsukuba in 1998. Both the neomycin and lacZ gene were inserted and replacing most of the coding region of c-Maf gene.
Strain descriptionB6;129P2-Maf<tm2Mym>. c-Maf is a transcriptional factor that belongs to the large Maf family. This gene is essential for normal lens development. Homozygous mutant mice show defective differentiation of lens fiber cells, and the expression of crystalin genes was severely impaired in the mice.
Colony maintenanceSibling Mating (Heterozygote x Wild-type)Homozygous mutant mice die within 3 days after birth.
