Background strainC57BL/6JJcl
Appearanceblack
Strain developmentDeveloped by Kuniya Abe, RIKEN BioResrouce Center (Institute of Molecular Embryology and Genetics) in 2001. The transgene was injected into the pronuclei of C57BL/6J fertilized eggs.
Strain descriptionOct-4/EGFP transgenic mice carry EGFP (enhanced green fluorescence protein) cDNA under control of an Oct4 18-kb genomic fragment containing the minimal promoter and proximal and distal enhanced. (Dev Biol 2003). The Oct-4 gene expresses in primordial germ cells and undifferentiated spermatogonia in new born mice. This strain is useful to isolate living primordial germ cells which specifically express green fluorescent protein at various stages of embryonic development.
Colony maintenanceCarrier x Carrier [or Crossing to C57BL/6JJcl]
