Species | Mus musculus |
Strain name | B6.Cg-Tg(Ext2,LacZ)E22Tsh/ShsRbrc |
Former Common name | Tg-EXT2(E22), EXT2 transgenic mice (E22) |
H-2 Haplotype | |
ES Cell line | |
Background strain | C57BL/6JJcl |
Appearance | black [a/a B/B C/C] |
Strain development | Developed by Drs. K. Morimoto and T. Shirasawa at Tokyo Metropolitan Institute of Gerontology in 2001. The Ext2/lacZ plasmid was injected into the pronuclei of B6D2F1 fertilized eggs. The transgenic mice were backcrossed to C57BL/6J. |
Strain description | Ext2, exostoses (multiple) 2 encodes an essential component of the glycosyltransferase complex that is required for the biosynthesis of heparan sulfate. This transgenic mice express exogenous Ext2 in developing chondrocytes. The expression of Ext2 is histologically monitored by lacZ expression. The biosynthesis of heparan sulfate and the formation of trabeculae of Tg mice are significantly increased at 8 weeks of age. This strain is useful for studies of biosynthesis of heparan sulfate in vivo. |
Colony maintenance | Backcross to C57BL/6 (Hemizygote x C57BL/6J) |
