Strain developmentSpontaneous mutation arosed in C57BL.
Strain descriptionB6.Cg-Kit<W-v>. Viable dominant spotting. Spontaneous mutation arosed in C57BL. The Kit<W-v> mutation arose spontaneously in the C57BL strain. Heterozygote for Kit<W-v> are gray with light belly, white spot, light tail and feet. Homozygous mice are white with black eyes. The c-Kit cDNA from Kit<W-v>/Kit<W-v> mice showed an AC to T point mutation at nucleotide 2007 that resulted in the change from threonine to methionine at position 660.
Colony maintenanceSibling Mating (Heterozygote x Wild-type or Heterozygote)
