Strain developmentSpontaneous mutation arose in KOR wild-derived mouse colony. The mutant mice were maintained by sibling mating.
Strain descriptionSHL, spontaneously hyperlipidemia mutant mice. Spontaneous mutation arose in KOR mouse colony derived from Japanese wild-mice (Mus musculus molossius). Homozygous mutant mice show increased circulating cholesterol level. Homozygous mutant mice are viable and fertile (before onset of xanthoma). Females of homozygote show lower reproductive performance.
