Strain developmentチェコのLhotkaにて捕獲された野生個体をもとに育成された系統である。
Strain descriptionPWKは1974年にチェコ共和国のLhotkaにて捕獲されたMus musculus musculus に属する一つがいのマウスに由来する (Von Deimling et al, 1988) 。この系統は米国Roswell Park Cancer研究所 (Buffalo, NY) の故Chapman博士より理研(筑波) に送られたもので、その後30代以上兄妹交配によって維持されている。C57BL/6とPWKのF1、雑種雄は不妊であることが示されている。
Colony maintenance兄妹交配による、繁殖は良好。
