BRC No.RBRC11604
TypeTargeted Mutation CongenicCartagena
SpeciesMus musculus
Strain nameB6-Spic<tm1.1Ksho>
Former Common nameSpi-C flox
H-2 Haplotype
ES Cell lineJM8A3.N1 [C57BL/6N-A<tm1Brd>]
Background strain
Strain developmentDeveloped by Tsuneyasu Kaisho, Research Center for Allergy and Immunologuy, RIKEN around 2005. The neomycin resistance gene was deleted and backrossed to C57BL/6 mice by Wataru Ise, Osaka University Immunology Frontier Research Center (IFReC), around 2011-2013.
Strain descriptionSpi-C is an Ets family transcription factor. In Spi-C flox mice, two loxP sites are inserted in the introns of the Spi-C gene locus. Expression of cre recombinase leads to deletion of Spi-C coding exon(s) flanked by the loxP sites and disruption of the Spi-C gene locus. Spi-C-deficient mice show various phenotypes, such as ablation of splenic red pulp macrophage and defects in intestinal macrophage functions.
