BRC No.RBRC06315
TypeTargeted MutationCartagena
SpeciesMus musculus
Strain nameMF1.129-Sparc<tm1Cam>
Former Common nameMF1-Sparc KO
H-2 Haplotype
ES Cell lineCCB [129S/SvEv-Gpi1<c>]
Background strain
Appearance
Strain developmentDeveloped by William H. Colledge, University of Cambridge. CCB ES cells were used. Maintained by Yasumasa Kato, Ohu university School of Dentistry. C3H congenic (over N9 generation) (RBRC06314), MF1 mixed background (RBRC06315).
Strain descriptionSparc (osteonectin, BM-40) gene knockout mice. Exon 6 of Sparc gene was replaced with a SA-lacZ/PGK-neo cassette. Homozygous mutant mice exhibit cataracts.
Colony maintenanceHomozygote x Homozygote [or Crossing to HsdOla:MF1]
References
Mice deficient for the secreted glycoprotein SPARC/osteonectin/BM40 develop normally but show severe age-onset cataract formation and disruption of the lens.
