Strain developmentDeveloped by Nelson Horseman, University of Cincinnati and Minoru Tanaka, Mie University School of Medicine in 1997. D3 ES cells were used. The mutant mice were backcrossed to C57BL/6 over 20 times.
Strain descriptionPrl (prolaction) gene knockout mice. A PGK-neo cassette was inserted into the exon 4 of Prl gene. Homozygous mutant females are infertile due to an implantation defect. Homozygous mutant males are fertile.
