Strain developmentDeveloped by Fumihiro Sugiyama, Laboratory Animal Resource Center, University of Tsukuba in 2011. Spontaneous mutation originally arose in ICR. BALB/cByJ background (RBRC05895).
Strain descriptionFgf5 gene spontaneous mutant mice. A 9.3-kb region of the Fgf5 gene including exon 3 and its 5’ and 3’ flanking sequence was deleted. Homozygous mutant mice show long pelage hairs.
Colony maintenanceHomozygote x Homozygote [or BALB/cByJJcl] Homozygous mutant mice are viable and fertile.
