Strain developmentDeveloped by Kinya Otsu, Osaka University Graduate School of Medicine in 2006. A loxP site was inserted upstream of exon 7 of Capns1 gene. A floxed neo cassette was inserted in downstream of exon 9. The PGK-neo cassette was removed by crossing with EIIa-cre mice. C57BL/6 and 129 mixed background.
Strain descriptionCapns1, calpain, small subunit 1 floxed mice. Exons 7-9 of Capns1 gene was flanked by loxP sites. Conditional Capns1 deficient mice can be generated by crossing with tissue-specific Cre mice. Homozygous mice for floxed allele show no obvious abnormality.
