Strain developmentDeveloped by Takao Iwawaki, Advanced Science Institute, RIKEN in 2005. RF8 (129S4 derived) ES cells were used. The mutant mice were backcrossed to C57BL/6J for at least 5 times.
Strain descriptionIRE1alpha (Ern1) gene knockout mice. Exon 11-17 of Ern1 gene were replaced with a floxed neo cassette. Homozygous mutant mice begin to die around E12.5.
