Strain development | Exon 1 was removed by crossing with CAG-cre (B6 background). The mice were backcrossed to C57BL/6 over 21 times. |
Strain description | Dscam knockout mice. Dscam, Down syndrome cell adhesion molecule is a gene of neural Ig superfamily mediates cell adhesion and axon outgrowth. Homozygous mutant mice of C57BL/6 genetic background die within 24 hours after birth due to central respiratory defects. In BALB/c mixed background, Homozygous mutant mice are viable and survive to adulthood. |
Colony maintenance | Heterozygote x Wild-type [C57BL/6NCrSlc] |
