TypeTargeted MutationCartagena
SpeciesMus musculus
Strain nameB6;129S4-Cacna1b<tm1Ttan>
Former Common nameB6-Cacna1b KO
H-2 Haplotype
ES Cell lineJ1 [129S4/SvJae]
Background strain
Appearance
Strain developmentDeveloped by Tsutomu Tanabe, Graduate School of Medicine, Tokyo Medical and Dental University in 1998. The Cacna1b was disrupted by replacement of exon 1 with an in-frame lacZ-neo cassette.
Strain descriptionCacna1b knockout mice. Homozygous mutant mice show suppressed responses to a painful stimulus that induces inflammation and markedly reduced symptoms of neuropathic pain caused by nerve injury. This strain is useful for investigating the function of pain-transmission pathway.
Colony maintenanceHeterozygote x Wild-type [C57BL/6JJcl] Homozygous mice show partial lethality, and display anxiety-like behavior.
