Appearance | |
Strain development | Developed by Tsutomu Tanabe, Graduate School of Medicine, Tokyo Medical and Dental University in 1998. The Cacna1b was disrupted by replacement of exon 1 with an in-frame lacZ-neo cassette. |
Strain description | Cacna1b knockout mice. Homozygous mutant mice show suppressed responses to a painful stimulus that induces inflammation and markedly reduced symptoms of neuropathic pain caused by nerve injury. This strain is useful for investigating the function of pain-transmission pathway. |
Colony maintenance | Heterozygote x Wild-type [C57BL/6JJcl] Homozygous mice show partial lethality, and display anxiety-like behavior. |
