Appearance
Strain developmentDeveloped by Tomohisa Hirobe, National Institute of Radiological Sciences in 1990. sash (W<sh>) locus from C57BL/6J- W<sh>/+ (Osaka University) was backcrossed into the C57BL/10JMsHir, and then mantained by sister-brother mating.
Strain descriptionC57BL/10 congenic strain of sash locus from C57BL/6J-W<sh>/+ strain. Black (a/a B/B C/C D/D P/P E/E +/+); black with a white sash (a/a B/B C/C D/D P/P E/E W<sh>/+); white coat with black eyes (a/a B/B C/C D/D P/P E/E W<sh>/W<sh>). Lack of melanocyte of skin.
Colony maintenanceHeterozygote x Heterozygote, Wild-type
