Strain developmentDeveloped by Fred Sblitzky, University of Nottingham in 2005. A lacZ-neo cassette replaced 220 bp of the Id4 cording region including the HLH domain. 129, CD1 (ICR) and C57BL/6J mixed background.
Strain descriptionId4 knockout mice. Id4 is a member of inhibitor of differentiation / inhibitor of DNA binding protein family. Homozygous mutant mice exhibit a abnormal brain structures.
Colony maintenanceHeterozygote X Wild-type Homozygous mutant mice are small and most of them die within 8 weeks of age.
