Strain development | Dveloped by Dr. Heikki Rauvala, Institute of Biotechnology and Department of Biosciences, University of Helsinki. PDGF-beta promoter followed by rabbit beta-globulin intron and HB-GAM cDNA and sv40 poly-A-tail. Pavlov et al. (2002), Molecular and Cellular Neuroscience; Vol. 20, pp. 330-342. |
Strain description | Transgenic mice overexpressing HB-GAM (pleiotrophin). Attenuated long-term potentiation (LTP) in hippocampus. Faster learning in water maze and decreased anxiety in elevated plus-maze compared to the wild-type mice. Pavlov et al. (2002), Molecular and Cellular Neuroscience; Vol. 20, pp. 330-342. Tg mice are viable and no anatomical abnormalities are detected. |
Colony maintenance | Carrier x Carrier |
