Strain development | Developed by Peter Gruss, Max Planck Institute for Biophysical Chemistry. The mutant mice were backcrossed 129 over 20 times by Naohiro Hashimoto, National Center for Geriatrics and Gerontology. |
Strain description | Pax7 gene knockout mice. The first exon of the paired box was replaced with a neo cassette (RBRC03558) and lacZ-neo cassette (RBRC03559), respectively. In the C57BL/6 background, most homozygous mutant mice die within 3 weeks after birth (survival rate is below 10%). On the other hand, in the 129 background (RBRC03558 and RBRC03559), approximately 50% of mutant mice die within 3 weeks after birth (details unknown). Heterozygous mutant mice for lacZ repoter Pax7<tm2Pgr> (RBRC03559) show negative X-gal staining in the muscle satellite cells. |
