SpeciesMus musculus
Strain nameB6;129S4-Tubg2<tm1Sts>/StsRbrc
Former Common nameTUBG2 knockout mouse
H-2 Haplotype
ES Cell lineJ1 [129S4/SvJae]
Background strain
Appearance
Strain developmentDeveloped by Drs. Akiko Yuba-Kubo and Shioichiro Tsukita at Kyoto University in 2001. A Pgk-neo cassette was inserted to replace exon 5 og Tobg2 gene. The mutant mice were backcrossed to C57BL/6 over 6 generation.
Strain descriptionγ-tubulin play a central role in the nucleaton of microtubules. Tubg2 is a γ-tubulin isoforms and primarily detected in the brain. Tubg2 homozyous deficient mice are viable, but sometimes become sterile with age by impared motor function.
Colony maintenanceBackcross to C57BL/6 (Heterozygote x C57BL/6JJcl)
