Type | Targeted Mutation |
Species | Mus musculus |
Strain name | B6.129S2-Tmbim1<tm1Noj>/41 |
Former Common name | RECS1 KO |
H-2 Haplotype | |
ES Cell line | D3 [129S2/SvPas] |
Background strain | C57BL/6 |
Appearance | |
Strain development | Developed by Hanjun Zhao, Norikazu Yabuta and Hiroshi Nojima, Research Institute for Microbial Diseases, Osaka University in 2001. D3 ES cells were used to generate the knockout mice. The mutant mice were backcrossed to C57BL/6 over 8 times. |
Strain description | RECS1 (Tmbim1) gene knockout mice. The 5’-untranslated sequence (-3.8 kb) and exon 1-6 region of RECS1 was replaced by PGK-neo cassette. Homozygous mutant mice are prone to aortic dilation and cystic medial degeneration (CMD) when the mice ages (older than 14 months). Aortic dilation and CMD are frequently encountered. Viable and fertile. |
Colony maintenance | Heterozygote x Homozygote [or Crossing to C57BL/6NCrSlc] |
