Strain development | Developed by Dr. Gabriel Nunez at University of Michigan Medical School in 1995. The human Bcl-xL under the control of the SV40 promoter and IgH enhancer (SV40-EH casette) was injected into the pronuclei of (C57BL/6 x SJL/J)F2 fertilized egges. |
Strain description | C57BL/6-Tg(SV40-BCL2L1)87Nnz. Bcl-xL, a member of the bcl-2 amily, is expressed in pre-B cells but downregulated at the immature and mature stages of B cell development. This transgenic mouse strain expresses the human Bcl-xL gene within B cell lineage under the control of the SV40 promoter and B IgH enhancer. The transgenic mice show marked accumulation of peripheral B cells in lymphoid organs and enhanced B cell survival in vitro. |
Colony maintenance | Backcross to C57BL/6 (Hemizygote x C57BL/6NCrj). |
