SpeciesMus musculus
Strain nameB6.129S7-Tert<tm1Fish>/FishRbrc
Former Common namemTERT KO mice
H-2 Haplotype
ES Cell lineJH1 [129S7/SvEvBrd]
Background strainC57BL/6NCrlCrlj
Appearanceblack [a/a B/B C/C]
Strain developmentDeveloped by Drs. Xunmei Yuan and Fuyuki Ishikawa at Tokyo Institute of Technology in 1999. A neomycin selection cassette replaced three exons, encoding a highly conserved motif A of the Tert gene. The mutant mice were backcrossed C57BL/6N.
Strain descriptionTert, telomerase reverse transcriptase gene encodes a catalytic subunit of telomerase that is essential for telomerase activity. Homozygous mutant mice show no telomerase activity. Homozygous mutant mice after 3 to 5 generations were sterile.
Colony maintenanceBackcross to C57BL/6 (Heterozygote x C57BL/6NCrlCrlj) Homozygous mutant mice after 3 to 5 generations were sterile.
References
Presence of telomeric G-strand tails in the telomerase catalytic subunit TERT knockout mice.
