Strain developmentDeveloped by Drs. Masashi Adachi and Shigekazu Nagata at Osaka University Medical School in 1995.
Strain descriptionFas is a cell surface receptor belonging to the tumor necrosis factor receptor superfamily which transduces apoptotic signals in many cell types. Fas deficient mutant mice show lymphoma and autoimmune disorders. In a few month after birth, the mice develop lymphadenoma and splenomegaly by an accumulation of abnormal polyclonal T cells with the CD4-CD8- double negative.
