Strain developmentDeveloped by Dr. Honjo, Faculty of Medicine, Kyoto University in 1995.
Strain descriptionRBP-J, recombining binding protein suppressor of hairless (Drosophila) which is a transcriptional factor of a Notch/RBP-J signaling pathway play a role in fate determination in various lineages. RBP-J homozygous mutant mice show severe growth retardation at 8.5 days of gestation, incomplete turning of the body axis, microencephaly, abnormal placental development, anterior neuropore opening and defective somitogenesis at 9.5 days of gestation, and die before 10.5 days of gestation.
Colony maintenanceBackcross to C57BL/6 (Heterozygote x C57BL/6CrSlc)
References
Disruption of the mouse RBP-J kappa gene results in early embryonic death.
