Former Common name | B6.Cg-Fyn<tm1Yik>, Fyn Targeting mice |
H-2 Haplotype | |
ES Cell line | TT2 [(C57BL/6NCrlj x CBA/JNCrlj)F1] |
Background strain | C57BL/6 and CBA mixed |
Appearance | black [a/a B/B C/C] |
Strain development | Developed by Takeshi Yagi, Tsukuba Life Science Center, RIKEN in 1993. The targeting vector containing lacZ-neo cassette was transferred into TT2 ES cells to replace the SH1, SH3 and tyrosine kinase regions of the Fyn gene. The mutant mice were crossed to C57BL/6. |
Strain description | Fyn gene knockout mice. Fyn proto-oncogene is a non-receptor type tyrosine kinase of Src family that is expressed in the central nervous system and suggested to be involved in the mechanism of neuronal signaling cascade. Homozygous mutant mice exhibit a defect in suckling behavior and abnormal hippocampus morphology. This strain is useful for elucidation of the role of Fyn tyrosine kinase. |
Colony maintenance | Homozygote x Homozygote [or Crossing to C57BL/6NCrlCrlj] |
