Strain developmentDeveloped by Dr. Takuji Shirasawa at Tokyo Metropolitan Institute of Gerontology in 2001. A neomycin selection cassette was inserted into the exon 2 of the Clk1 gene. 129, C57BL/6 and ICR mixed background.
Strain descriptionThe Clk1 gene, also known as Coq7 is essential for coenzyme Q (ubiquinone, CoQ) synthesis, maintenance of mitochondrial integrity, and neurogenesis in mice. Homozygous mutant mice exhibit developmental arrest and die at E10.5. This mutant strain is useful for the study of Clk1 gene function.
Colony maintenanceSibling Mating (Heterozygote x Wild-type, Heterozygote)Homozygous mutant mice die at E10.5.
