Species | Mus musculus |
Strain name | B6.129P2-Mmp2<tm1Ito>/ItoRbrc |
Former Common name | GelA KO (Nov. 2011), B6.129P2-Mmp2tm1Ito |
H-2 Haplotype | |
ES Cell line | E14 [129P2/OlaHsd] |
Background strain | C57BL/6JJcl |
Appearance | black |
Strain development | Developed by Takeshi Itoh and Shigeyoshi Itohara, Institute for Virus Research, Kyoto University in 1997. The mutant mice were backcrossed to C57BL/6. |
Strain description | This strain was generated by gene targeting of gelatinase A (Mmp2, metalloproteinase 2). Homozygous mutant mice are completely devoid of gelatinase A. 5.9 kb of the gene including exon 1 was replaced with a PGK-neo cassette. Homozygous mutant mice are viable and fertile, but show a subtle delay in their growth. |
Colony maintenance | Homozygote x Heterozygote [or Crossing to C57BL/6JJcl]. Homozygous mutant mice are viable and fertile, but show a subtle delay in their growth. |
